Monday, you win

This is this morning and it's only 7:40 a.m. folks:

  • get to daycare and Oli spits up over my shoulder, down the back of my work shirt
  • drop him off, wlak to my building, wait, wait, wait for the elevator, it keeps bypassing the floor we're on. Finally, just gave up and walked up 3 flights in 4 inch heels.
  • walk towards automatic doors, they only open halfway and stop abruptly, smacking me in the forehead
You know what Monday? I am sorry I threw a gauntlet at you last week. I give up, I surrender, leave me alone please!

Now, for some cuteness, this is Oli's morning yesterday, in pictures:

He played like this for an hour, and yes, he is half nude again.
It was quiet all of a sudden, so I looked down to see this. Apparently, Jeff used to fall asleep like this as well.
We tucked him into his brand new blanket+sleeping bag for his nap

No cute baby pictures in here

This was my Mother's Day gift from Jeff. Not the shoes or the water bottle, but that tiny little white and orange thing atatched to my laces with the Apple and Nike logos on it. It's the Nike+. I wanted this last year when I was training for a 5K, so I could track my runs outside. But, it's no compatible with the iPhone 3, which is what I had then. Now, I have an iPhone 4 and this is compatible with that. Which means, I can use this to track my workouts, upload them to the Nike site and see how much better or worse I do as time goes on. I used it for the first time yesterday and it was GREAT. Took it literally a second or 2 to connect to my iPhone and start tracking my run. And, as you can see, Apple was nice enough to make the colors match my running shoes and my water bottle.

And, I lied, here's a cute baby picture to end the post with. What would a blog post be without an Oli photo? He fell asleep in the Ergo as we were taking a walk with the dog.

Happy Mother's Day

A wonderful happy day to mothers old and new
You could never be thanked enough for all that you do
Unthanked, under appreciated, sometimes unappreciated
Today, we stop for a while to celebrate you

For all those hugs, kisses and band-aids
That helped the pain from all the boo boos fade
The smiles, the packed lunches, the washed and folded laundry
And the numerous meals you cooked and cookies you baked

Thank you ammee, ma, madre, mom
Now I have a child of my own
I hold you up as the mother
Someday I hope to become.

Happy 6 months!

My baby is 6 months old today. Look at that face, sweet potatoes and all! Isn't he the cutest?

We went to Pimlico for a little picnic in the sun with him, and we still couldn't get a good family phot. Here's a semi-decent one on the right.

He had his 6 month shots yesterday and let me tell you how proud I am of him. He cried when they stuck him and 15 seconds later, no more tears!

He's growing way too fast, reminds me of this song by Lonestar on my shower CD:

Let them be little - Lonestar

I can remember when you fit in the palm of my hand
Felt so good in it, no bigger than a minute
How it amazes me, you're changing with every blink
Faster than a flower blooms they grow up all too soon

So let them be little 'cause they're only that way for a while

Give them hope, give them praise, give them love every day
Let them cry, let them giggle, let them sleep in the middle
Oh just let them be little

I've never felt so much in one little tender touch

I live for those kisses, prayers and your wishes
Now that you're teaching me things only a child can see
Every night while we're on our knees all I ask is please

Let them be little 'cause they're only that way for a while

Give them hope, give them praise, give them love every day
Let them cry, let them giggle, let them sleep in the middle
Oh just let them be little

So innocent, a precious soul, you turn around

It's time to let them go

So let them be little 'cause they're only that way for a while

Give them hope, give them praise, give them love every day
Let them cry, let them giggle, let them sleep in the middle
Oh just let them be little

Let them be little

Mommy and daddy love you more than they could ever imagine, little one. Grow and spread your wings, don't ever be afraid of anything. Be curious about the world around you, be respectful of the nature you co-exist with and very cognizant of the life you interact with. But, always, always be your own self, in everything you do. Don't let anything or anyone hold you back from that. We'll be here to hold you up and catch you if you fall. And, be patient with your parents, we are doing this for the first time and we'll probably make mistakes but remember that whatever we do, we do with your best interests in mind.,
We love you more than we could have ever imagined!
